4ipnet, Inc., a leading wireless networking device provider for manageable, reliable, and secure wireless access, released a new feature “QR Code Auto-Login”, for fast and immediate On-demand Account Login on 4ipnet’s HSG260-WTG2: Wi-Fi Hotspot Kit 2.
The state of the Wireless LAN industry focuses on the meeting the demands of “BYOD(Bringing Your Own Device)”. 4ipnet’s QR Code Login feature allows the gateway to recognize any portable device logging into its network system through scanning a QR Code displayed on the device’s screen. Once a billing plan is selected from the SDS200W Wireless Smart Device Server, a ticket will be generated with a printed QR Code, allowing your device to gain internet access.

Pick any smart phone or smart tablet, preferably one with Apple or Android based. Download an App which contains a QR Code scanning option. Once the App is downloaded, aim the QR code scanner to the QR Code printed on the ticket. The QR Code should automatically be detected by the App. After all the above steps have been completed, a logged-in screen should automatically appear on the web browser.

The “QR Code Auto-Login” gives guests and visitors an option to save time and energy instead of writing down and memorizing username and passwords on-the-go at a public venue. The number of public Wi-Fi hotspots is expected to increase by 350 percent in the next four years, as operators look for ways to offload traffic from their mobile networks, according to a report by market research company Informa Telecoms and Media.

By 2015 users around the world will be able to connect to 5.8 million public hotspots, Informa wrote in the “Global developments in public Wi-Fi” report, which was commissioned by Wireless Broadband Alliance. WBA members include AT&T, Boingo, Cisco Systems, Deutsche Telekom and Google. Its goal is to make Wi-Fi services easier to use.
